Tender

I had a slightly stressful week. So all week I was nibbling on my lower lip. Friday that spot had two blisters so I drained them and slept with ice on it. When I woke up in the morning my

Left submandibular lymph node was tender

and my lip looked like this! Hello edema!


I thought it was interesting that this picture makes my front tooth (#9) look slightly labially inclined.

5th graders

I'm finally done with teaching fifth graders about Tobacco and Oral Hygiene! Now I need to do good on my Nutritional Counseling tomorrow and I'll be home-free for Thanksgiving. Teaching them went more smoothly then the 3rd graders. I also received good ratings!

And finally I would like to again state that I am constantly battling the bloody noses! This morning it happened while I was trying to put my hair up; I posed today. Isn't red pretty!

3rd Graders

My school is pretty and they put a lot of work into their gardens. I thought this was cute :)

I taught my 3rd grade class yesterday (reminder: I do not like kids) I didn't like doing it but I don't think anyone could tell...


It was weird (but good) because to get into the school you had to call in and they would beep you in. It's been a while since I've been to an elementary school, I don't remember it being that way before. We had to sign in and wear these stickers.

If I could go back I would have told them a few things differently ( during the presentation I would interchange premolars and bicuspids on accident) there might have been some confusion on that part. I also called Mr. Page....Doctor Page a few times.... Mr. Page said he was ok with being called a doctor :)

In two week I get to teach 5th graders about smoking...JOY!

Chaos

I normally like doing little arts and crafty things but when so much is due It's almost sickening. It's sad because this could be so much fun for me but it's not.

Those boards were about $5 each. I bought a pack of 200 sheets of construction paper for $3 from hobby lobby, I printed off a couple of pictures from Walgreen that were in color 3 at $1.50 each. This is expensive! Everything that's in black and white I printed off for free at school.

It's Chaos and I'm glad I already made my giant teeth models. Lesson Plans/teeth models/2 boards, are due on Tuesday (30% of our grade in Community Dental Health) Two test Tuesday (unless one is moved...). LA lab on Tuesday and of course clinic all day in between.

I forgot to mention. We started LA lab (local anesthetic) last week where we give each other injections and it was not bad... but I do have a small thing for needles.


When I woke up Saturday I was overwhelmed but then I remembered it's only a three day week (FALL BREAK!!!) and I get to see my lovely June bug, my anxiety went down a little.

Back to making my models and editing my lesson plan.

Here is What I went with. I only did one where I put the feather Boas all around. The rest I left the bottoms bare so it would be easier to see the different. Which one do you think looks better?



Next. I've had bloody nose problems for a long time. When I don't have Vaseline stuffing my nose, I usually have about 3-5 bloody noses a day. This morning I was breathing through my nose half asleep and I started making weird noises and I could feel something dripping down my throat... It took me about an hour to get my nose to stop bleeding. I'd like to add that when I have a bloody nose, It can't just come out my nose. Half of all of it has to go down my throat :( When I went down stair to make something to eat. I was choking. I couldn't breath!!! So I leaning over the sink and coughed up this Giant Clot that was clogging my airways.

Of course I couldn't leave it alone. And because I'm fascinated by this gross factor (like I assume most people are) I recorded it. Not only that but I played with it. If you listen close enough you can hear it plop when I drop it (the best part) Enjoy! :)

Don't worry I cleaned everything very well.

Tooth Fairies

We are required to do at least one service project that SADHA organizes. And the Second year dental hygiene students are the leaders for each project. I'm the leader for Enchanted forest. I did it last year and I was brush bear. Basically a lot of little kids walk around doing trick-or-treat things in a path along a wooded park and there are several booths. We have a booth and we have puppets that we have the kids brush the puppets teeth and once they do we hand out toothbrushes and toothpaste instead of candy.

This year I decided instead of just having one fairy and one brushbear, we should have 1 brushbear and everyone else be a fairy.

So here is what I found at Dollar General. Little Tiara's and wings. I'm thinking about having everyone wear their scrubs.

The wings are a dollar and a little small so I'm trying to decided if this is what I want to use. Also I'm trying to think of ways to make these look more tooth themed.

This is what a classmate of mine made and let me borrow incase we wanted to make our own, these are bigger but to buy all the supplies would cost more.

I'm working with the president of the dental hygiene school Ms. LoGuidice and she told me if I bought them at a reasonable price (all 8) That I would be reimbursed.

So I need to make the choise today. Hmmmm....

To Kill a Hummingbird

On the way to class I saw a sick hummingbird. Sara and Shana came up and helped move it out of the concrete stairway into the bushes.

It was a beautiful bird, with metallic grean and yellow feathers. So we put some leaves in front of it and went to class.


After class it was in the same spot so Shana held the hummingbird and I drove us to the vet and they put it under. Sad.

I am sitting in the Case Study lab working on my abstract and special needs projects, while procrastinating with my blog. The one thing that keeps popping into my mind is...

...IT'S COLD!!! Seriously why does it have to be so cold in here that it makes my fingers reluctant to move?!?!?!



So here is where i'm sitting, in the back of the room, sitting on my hands inbetween sentences...

When I arrived at school just now, I saw something that was glowing. I park in the garage and in the middle of all the gray cement was this bright green grasshopper looking insert



When I went home for Labor day I got to see my baby.



We are required to make a TWO FEET x TWO FEET tooth model that little kids can floss between... Seriously.... So here is my attempt on #29 and #30.



I used paper mache (newspaper and 1/2 water 1/2 Elmers glue) and duck tape...I didn't know how else to make it. My brother Russell helped me blow dry in between layers (3 layers) It was frustrating and took me more time then I anticipated. My mom told me she didn't think they looked like teeth and had troubles picturing it together... Yeah...

I was watching "Hook" last night (I should not have been but I was). Yes I'm referring to the classic movie with Robin Williams and Julia Roberts.

I remember thinking Rufio's hair was weird when I was little (and seriously...who didn't like Rufio?!?) but then I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Rufio was Asian :) when I watched it again.



HaHAHAAAAAA!!!!! The BEST scene in the movie!


Even more surprised was I when he first spoke!!!! He plays the Asian voice in "The Last Avatar" That I was referring to in my last post.

My Choice

I deleted my Facebook and Myspace for some irritating reasons. I never gave twitter a chance so I left it; keeping my blog because I feel I need it. I decided not to pay for internet this year. For two reasons #1 cutting back on my addictions #2 to save money. How much money $481.00 (that includes their special without the Special= around $600)! And yes, I have 2 other roommates, however, they don't use cable/internet so they were not willing to split it with me :( I had timeWarner before in Overland Park and I was happy with them but here in Olathe the options did not make me happy (ex. ComCast). Lucky for me the Schools computers are available from 8AM-10PM weekdays and 1-5PM on the weekends. If I decide I can't live without it I can always sign right up.

A couple of weeks ago we had a Microburst-this word irritates me because of how worked up the People of Lawrence were about it. My dad told me we had about $16000 worth of damage from our roof and everything which I believe insurance is still working out.

A random neighbor came up running with his Chainsaw. Nice guy.

I couldn't find a flippy floppy for a month and found it in my trunk. It shrunk a little.

My new roomies have TOO MUCH FOOD!!! Talk about Food Storage. How much do two little ladies need??? Seriously the hardest part about moving in was making room. Anyway they are slowly making room for me. The bottom shelf is mine.

Oh the fridge... they made enough room for me to put my ice tray in. They even have this extra freezer thing in the garage...FULL!!!

This is not all...this stack keeps on getting bigger O_0 Seriously...TWO people...

One of my roomies collects movies. My new roomies are Mormon and they can't watch anything above PG-13. But I looked through all these movies just to be nosy (and to see if there were any I hadn't seen) and I found ONE. One rated R movie. I got excited the movie was SPEED. Also this is not all of her movies.

This is the living roomie. You can not step on the rug because it's from Afghanistan. Also we remove our shoes when we enter the Duplex.

I was having an issue called sleeping. Because of the design of the house. It was picking up all the noise from the road and amplifying it. At that point we were not using AC because we would just open the windows. Well it's fine for them because they aren't facing the road but I am. Also the road is between two round-abouts that lead to the freeway meaning people speed up. So I either couldn't sleep because of the noise or I couldn't sleep because I shut the window and it got to hot. Anyway Issue was resolved when I bought a fan and discusses this with them and now they turn on the AC at night so I can sleep :) it get's a little too cold at night but apparently I can't find my happy middle so I work with this and add an extra blanket.

My mom and I bought June av a new collar. I think Red looks good on her but I think every color does. That little recliner is in fact-The cats couch.

It's all hers and she uses it everyday.

I went to Topeka for the weekend. And my brother Michael told me to go downstairs and press the space bar (to un-pause what was on the TV-we have a computer hooked up to our TV in the basement)...

You see, I think he didn't want to give me a chance to turn down the show so he just made it so easy for me. We he was right, there was enough "girlie stuff" to keep me watching and really I was surprise I liked it so much. It does have a strong Asian theme. My bro was also right, the flight scenes were good. I would recommend giving it a chance.

He had me watch the Avatar: The Last Airbender which was a show on Nickelodeon. Normally any of these three things would keep me from watching #1 American made show #2 Twelve year old kids and #3 On Nickelodeon. I really did sit down and watch all three seasons that weekend.

Anyone else having issues with copy and paste (mostly the Paste)on Blogger. It's irritating me today because IT'S NOT WORKING for me today...
