First Week Of Summer

This is my classmate Tonya and her husband. We went to this western style bar in Missouri called the Wild Horse Saloon. We've been trying to go for months but school kept getting in the way. We started at Tonya's house and 2 hours later went to the bar.



Tonya and her husband didn't try hard to dress like cowpeople. I found it difficult when I tried. I didn't have any jeans and I wasn't going to waste my money on them. My oldest brother let me borrow his button up and I put my hair in pigtails. I figured that was good enough. Tonya and I got some line dancing in.

On the way home early in the morning, I missed my exit. I figured I'd just go back the way I came (But, I forgot that 69 turned into 35) I was looking for 69 and it never came. I decided about 30 minutes later that all the road names were STILL not familiar and then...I saw...WORLD OF FUN and all the fun roller coasters!!! WOF is WAY north Kansas City. Hahah so I turned around and called Joe and was like umm...Joe I'm at world of fun what road will take me to 69. Oh yes...35!!! Thanks Joes!

I know how to get to World Of Fun now. Just take 435N all the way.

The next day my mother, father, and I visited my older brother and his friend. Appropriatly on Memorial weekend.

Irises are my favorite flower and they smell deliciously sweet. If you haven't smelt one, you should. It reminds me of Jelly.

The Difference

This is a vent...

Honestly, I am unhappy at home. I go to bed annoyed, wake up annoyed, and angry in between.

I'm unhappy at work. I'm working for my old boss (a dentist) who I've worked part time with since 2002 so almost 7 years. I'm comparing it too much to how things run at school and the equipment we use.

I'm tight on money so it makes it difficult to hang out with my Topeka friends who want to go out and spend $8 on a single drink.... this doesn't even count the meal before the drink which is around $15 after a tip. I suppose I should be happy people want to hang out with me but it's straining.

It's making me grumpy. I feel like I'm unhappy 98% of the time. I'm happy 2% when I'm with my cat.

I'm hoping I like the VA, today I gave the dean the specific days I'm available.

This is going to be a long summer. I need an attitude adjustment.

Beach Ball

My mom graduated from Washburn this weekend with a bachelors of education. The beach ball amused me so I recorded it.



I start working tomorrow! Still waiting on the dean to put up the enrollment info for the summer. She said to check back on Wednesday/Thursday.

I'm in Topeka pretty much all summer. This weekend we are getting together in Missouri to go to this Hillbilly bar Tonya has been talking about...

My weekends are booked with Caddy business.

Also I really like the warmth of summer but the brightness irritates me. I'm an overcast kind of girl who hates the sun and baths in sunblock.

Party!

Party last night, Dental Hygiene BBQ! Here are some pics (more on facebook).

The next morning...5 minutes before I left for school for the new 1st year's orientation. I was thinking how interesting it is how violently vomit can come up!

After looking at myself in the mirror how could I not share one of my more beautiful moments, it wasn't even intentional... but really, I was a little bummed I wasted my eyeliner. My stomach should have given me a better warning before I applied the liquid... (see my toothbrush?)

I finally uploaded my animal video. All because I thought the duck that wiggled it's tail was too adorable!

Of course we have homework to do and abstracts to start working on but aside from that:

-An independent study at the Topeka VA (basically cleaning teeth)
-Working for my old boss part time
-MOVING-again July 31st
-Recruiting patients!!!!

-TB test, recertified for CPR, background check for school...

So tomorrow I'm going to enroll for next semester and my independent study!!! Love summer!

Wiggle

Maintenance brought us a new refrigerator. And...they said they would replace our food too! this is all of our food laying out.

Finals week, Three finals down two remaining and it is...

...SO RELAXING!!!

Where is the stress?

Finals week is usually tense!!! It feels wrong...

The stress from Finals does not even compare to the stress of the normal week in dental hygiene! Try to imagine that!

My mom and dad came up on Sunday (Mother's Day) because of my car. They brought me FOOD!!! As seen in the pictures.



I normally don't care that much for pasta salad honestly-I do not like the olives, but it tasted really good and she added pickles which I do love! I don't remember pickles in it before.

So this week is all around good!

A lot of people don't like it but it amuses me beyond belief... I know this is old and I've probably already shown most people but I'm bringing it back.

So it's a little... I don't know why people don't like it but there is a warning on it. Also watch out for around 2:06 that sound always makes me jump.

He's a gagger.

I finished two kids this morning. And this after noon while I was waiting for my patient to arive one of my classmates asked me if I would help her with angles for her Pedo Series (4 films).

So this 5 year old boy is sitting in the chair and he gags. We had him gargle with salt water and breath through his nose. Finally we are working on the last bitewing. She tried to put it in 2 times and he would keep on taking it out. So finally she said... I'm going to put this in real quick and she looked at me and said, even if I'm still in the room press the exposure button.

She starts to put the film in his mouth and has him close down and right before she releases her hold on the tab, spit starts coming out of the corners of his mouth...directly followed by some mixture of brownness. My classmate turns to me with wrinkles on her forehead and both her hands holding a puddle of vomit...

I had to turn my head away because apparenlty I still have issues with my composure but then I offered him paper towels.

Anyway, I've seen people vomit from fluoride but this was my first time seeing someone vomit from a little size 0 film...or any film. He was a good little boy!

Right after clinic, three of my classmates and I went out for Cinco de Mayo. I don't really celebrate holiday like things, but it's hard for me to turn down some dip!

Davey Havok has been on loveline twice this week!!! My new roomie probably thinks I'm crazy because of my random muffled fan screams... Even though Davey is a white man, I love his Straight Edge Vegan life style.

Where?

So my new roomie and her boyfriend were having a few friends meet them at old Chicago and they invited me. I mapquested how to find it. I got a little lost but then when I found it I was about 15 minutes late. I didn't see them there so I called her twice and she didn't pick up. So I waited five minutes left them a message I didn't see them and left.

I thought it was very strange that she didn't even call me/didn't come home/still not home... her boyfriend stopped by and that was it. I'm not too sure how I feel about my new roommate but as long as she pays it's all good.

Anyway So my old roomie who now lives about 3 1/2 hours away came up to Lawrence and called me out.

(Lauren, Meghan, Me -I also want to point out that if you look closely at my bangs you can see my WHITE hair reflecting the light. When I found out I had that I called my parents at midnight and was like DAD, where's mom, I have my first WHITE HAIR!!!)

We went to Barrel House in Lawrence-a Piano bar.

There was this 25 year old Asian guy names Jason who was completely wasted. We called him over and had him sit next to me. The sad thing is, even after he asked me for my number...he still asked me for my name 8 more times... You could not hold a conversation with him because they all went like this...

Asian: So Where do you live?
Me: Overland park-near Kansas City
Asian: Oh yeah, I have a friend who lives up there, so do you go to school?
Me: Yes I go to JCCC in Overland Park.
Asian: So you go to Washburn?
Me: No, I don't go to school in Topeka
Asian: So, you live in Topeka?
Me: Ummm... no...

Anyway, he was still good looking and he kept on kissing my cheek. Bars seriously are not places to really meet anyone, entertaining though. We also went to this place called The Hawk, Meghan really did not want to go but Lauren did... Apparently you can dance there but we went to this Martini room where you don't dance and left 10 minutes later. We all stayed at Laurens house in Lawrence; I left around 8:00AM.

This morning had a strange feeling, I walked up to the leasing house to pay my rent and on the way there was the lady who feeds the ducks who talked to me about nests, a group of about 8 guys moving in all stopped me on my way as well and then when I got to the leasing house, the lady offered me Free coffee/muffins and was all around friendly. Mornings in Overland park feel different from mornings in Topeka. I don't know exactly what it was but I think a lot of it had to do with the temperature and the shade...
